Logging In and Logging Out
Logging In To log in to the forum, click on "Login" in the forum menu. (If that option is not there, that means you are already logged in.) You will need to supply your username and your password. Once you have logged in, you will be taken to either your Control Panel or the Main Index, depending on which you have chosen in your Display Preferences. If the system tells you that your username or password was not found, you've most likely typed one (or both) of them wrong. Go back and try again, making sure that the information is correct. Remember that the password is CaSe SeNSitiVE, and that there can be no spaces before or after the username or password. If you have forgotten your username and/or password, click the link at the top of the Login page that reads, "Forgot your username or password? Click here." (Details below.) Back to TopIf you wish to logout, simply click on "Logout" from the forum menu. You will then be taken back to the login screen. You do not have to logout before leaving if you do not wish to. If you do not manually logout, you will show in the Who's Online page for 10 minutes, and when you next return on the same computer, you should automatically be logged in (if your browser is set to accept cookies). The main reason to manually logout is if you are using a computer that other people use (a family computer, a school or library computer, etc.). If someone else on that computer were to come to these forums after you have left without logging out, they would be logged in as you (perhaps without them even realizing it), and they would be able to post as you, edit your profile, change your password, etc. Back to TopIf you have forgotten your username and/or password, click the link at the top of the Login page that reads, "Forgot your username or password? Click here." (Or, click here.) You will need to enter your email address, and click "Submit." You must use your private administrative email address, which isn't necessarily the same as the one in your public profile. This is generally the email address you registered with, unless you've changed it since registering. You will receive an email with your Username and a new, temporary password (your old password will NOT be changed). You should then login with this temporary password and change your usual password to something you can more easily remember. Back to TopNext Back to Contents |
